Second Sight lecture

with Amanda Marchand

Recorded in San Diego on May 7, 2022

Amanda Marchand is the 2022 Second Sight Award recipient from Medium Photo. Her work embraces an experimental approach to photography through historic, light-sensitive materials resulting in abstract, one of a kind and editioned works. These works are drawn from the artist’s interest in landscape and the nature of time itself, referencing qualities of sunlight, paper chemistry, and her interest in specific elements of the natural world. Often made using performative acts, the completed works explore her mindful attention to the movement of the sun, vegetation, and the flora and fauna that play key roles in each unique photographic work.

The World is Astonishing with You in it

Amanda’s lecture The World is Astonishing with You in it draws from her limited edition artist’s book by the same name, and began a full day of lectures at the 2022 Medium Festival of Photography. She discussed her photographic work without cameras and how her creative projects inform her practice as a book artist.
