Here It’s Also Like This
with Gabriel Boils
Saturday, March 22 at 2pm - Bread & Salt
In this community-facing panel, Tijuana based artist Gabriel Boils will share the community based project that led to the publication of Here It’s Also Like This, a photography book that is the result of a research focused on photography in the Mexican state of Baja California in the 21st century. The discussion encourages participation between it´s editor and three panelists (artists represented in the book) about the editing process and the representation of a specific region in contemporary photography. Its main focus as a conceptual project is to bring together a group of images of places, characters and situations that have usually remained in the background of photographic representation from this region.
This volume unfolds a visual narrative in which the photographs of 37 photographers from different generations and backgrounds are presented in a sequence where each image retains its autonomy, while remaining in dialogue to the others.
