We stand with AAPI and Black communities
Photography has a long history with social justice, and at its best has helped shape public opinion for good. Medium Photo stands in commitment to amplify voices of Black, Asian American, and marginalized communities while maintaining our conviction to support inclusion and equity at every level. It is a shared moral imperative we encourage everyone reading this to embody.
As part of this process we invite you to share your thoughts on how we can chart the most equitable path forward, and to hold us accountable as we honor this commitment. Our service to the photography community will continue to fearlessly champion artists whose work challenges the medium’s capacity, and inspires us to take action toward a more just, creative, and equitable world.
Medium Photo stands in solidarity with Black Americans, the AAPI community, and all those working to dismantle our country’s systemic racism. The organizations listed below are making commitments to build a more just society hold promise to shape our world in profound ways.
What can you do?
We encourage you to learn about and support the work being done by organizations fighting systemic racism in the United States and elevating the important work being done by black Americans. Support comes in many forms: education, financial, protest, listening, talking, and finding the courage to take a stand in your community. As an informed citizen you can help with the important work of dismantling systemic racism. This starts with a commitment to educate yourself, and extends with conversations you have with your family, friends, and strangers. Together we can change the system we are living in, and move toward a more just world for all citizens.
