Kim Stringfellow Projects:
Virtual studio visit
with Kim Stringfellow
Sunday, April 2 at 1pm Pacific - Virtual Event
I will host a virtual visit for Medium Festival participants at my Joshua Tree studio, to discuss my research-based creative practice that bridges cultural geography, public practice and experimental documentary into creative, socially engaged transmedia experiences.
For the past twenty years, my work has focused on the human-driven transformation of some of the American West’s most iconic arid regions through multi-year, research-based projects merging cultural geography, public practice, and experimental documentary into creative, socially engaged trans-media experiences.
These art-centered projects combine writing, photography, audio, video, installation, mapping, and community engagement to collectively explore the history of place while examining how the landscapes we inhabit are socially and culturally constructed.
I'm interested in the ecological repercussions of human presence and occupation within these spaces. By focusing on distinct subjects, communities or regions, I attempt to foster a discussion of complex, interrelated issues for each site while exposing human values and policy agendas that form our collective understanding of these places.
This is a FREE event. Registration is required to reserve your spot and receive event reminders.
